Sun is out! Record-breaking temperatures forecast for Metro Vancouver

Coming off of a sunny weekend, Metro Vancouverites could see even warmer and potentially record-breaking temperatures today.

Environment Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan said the agency predicts temperatures creeping up to double digits.

Temperatures of 13 C are expected along the water and it could go up to 20 C inland.

In Abbotsford, the mercury is expected to hit 19 C, which will break a 37-year record. The hottest March 12 on record in Abbotsford was 1981, when it reached 19.6 C.

It's unlikely any records will be broken in Vancouver. The hottest March 12 on record was in 1998 when temperatures hit 14.7 C.

After experiencing the 15th coldest February on record, it's welcome news.

"Definitely enjoy today while you can, it's a nice day to not be working on a Monday," said Castellan.

The warmer temperatures are short-lived, as rain and clouds roll in on Tuesday and Wednesday.
